Maxus Unveils Luxurious Electric People Mover at Chengdu Motor Show
Looking for a luxurious electric people mover designed with families in mind? What if you could redefine your travel experience with innovative seating and cutting-edge technology? Meet the Maxus Dajia 7, the future of electric mobility.
SAIC Motor’s Maxus brand, known as LDV in Australia, has recently showcased its latest electric people mover, the Maxus Dajia 7, at the Chengdu motor show. This mid-sized vehicle is designed with luxurious features to cater to families. Although its availability in Australia is yet to be confirmed, LDV Australia is considering the feasibility of introducing this model to the market.
Maxus, also known as LDV in Australia, has recently debuted its newest electric people mover, the Maxus Dajia 7, at the Chengdu motor show. This mid-sized vehicle, also referred to as the MIFA 7, is designed with a focus on luxury and functionality for families. While its availability in Australia has not been confirmed yet, LDV Australia is thoroughly assessing the potential of introducing this model to the Australian market.
The MIFA 7 is equipped with a single electric motor that generates 180kW of power and 350Nm of torque. The specific wheels driven by this motor have not been confirmed by the company. According to Maxus, the MIFA 7’s 77kWh battery offers an estimated range of 527km, while the 90kWh battery option extends the range to 605km, based on the optimistic CLTC testing cycle.
Safety is a top priority for the MIFA 7, which comes standard with six airbags, including side curtain airbags that cover a significant portion of the wheelbase. The vehicle is also constructed using over 80% high-strength steel, enhancing its structural integrity. Additionally, the MIFA 7 is equipped with advanced safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, and a surround-view camera.
One of the standout features of the MIFA 7 is its innovative seating arrangement, which aims to redefine the concept of a six-seater car. In the six-seater version, the front passenger seat can slide all the way back into the second row and rotate 180 degrees to face the rear passengers, creating a unique and interactive seating experience. The second row consists of a single seat, while the third row offers three seats. For those who prefer a more traditional seating layout, a seven-seat model with a 2+2+3 arrangement is also available.
In terms of technology and convenience, the MIFA 7 does not disappoint. It features three 12.3-inch screens situated behind a single pane of glass, providing occupants with a modern and immersive digital experience. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 car chip, these screens offer seamless connectivity and entertainment options. The MIFA 7 also includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing users to power external devices with output up to 6.6kW using an external outlet or 2.2kW using the cabin outlets. Other notable features include a panoramic glass roof, power sliding doors, a heat pump for improved energy efficiency, and a refrigerated compartment. Additionally, the flagship variant offers a mobile remote parking feature, adding another level of convenience to the overall driving and ownership experience.
Measuring 4907mm in length, 1885mm in width, and 1756mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2975mm, the MIFA 7 is slightly larger than the Honda Odyssey. However, it is smaller than the LDV MIFA 9, which is already available in Australia. The MIFA 7 is shorter by 336mm than the MIFA 9 and has a wheelbase that is shorter by 225mm. The LDV MIFA 9, currently available in Australia, offers a 90kWh battery with a WLTP range of 430-440 km.
While electric people movers are still relatively limited in the Australian market, the MIFA 7 joins the Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer and EQV as the available options. The eVito Tourer starts at $116,117 before on-road costs, while the EQV starts at $155,338. LDV, the Australian counterpart of Maxus, has confirmed its interest in introducing a new mid-sized cargo van with electric power to complement its existing lineup, which includes the MIFA 9 people mover and eDeliver 9 van. With its commitment to electric mobility and innovative design, LDV strives to offer a range of options to Australian consumers looking for sustainable and practical transportation solutions.
