The highlight of the updates is the introduction of the fifth-generation Lexus Hybrid System, which is being used in a Lexus vehicle for the first time. This system combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two motor-generators and a CVT automatic transmission, resulting in improved power and efficiency.

Compared to its predecessor, the UX 300h comes with a new lightweight lithium-ion battery pack, replacing the old nickel-metal hydride battery. This new power storage unit is located under the rear seat, allowing for better weight distribution. Additionally, the hybrid transaxle has been upgraded, featuring higher-output electric motors for enhanced performance. With a power increase of 11kW over the outgoing model, the UX 300h now offers a 0-60mph time of 7.9 seconds.

In terms of fuel economy, the UX 300h delivers impressive numbers. The FWD version is estimated to achieve 43mpg (5.4L/100km), while the AWD version is expected to achieve 41mpg (5.7L/100km) on the US test cycle. Australian models are quoted at 4.5-4.7L/100km on the ADR test cycle.

On the exterior, the 2025 UX 300h stands out with its new Copper Crest paint option. Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with a new button layout on the door panels and chrome-finished ornamentation. F Sport Handling models also receive a hairline finishing on the door panels and centre console. Furthermore, the US-market UX 300h Premium and F Sport variants come with a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the Base models retain a 7.0-inch display.

In terms of safety, the UX 300h is equipped with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes a range of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies. The Pre-Collision System now features Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, providing additional support for collision avoidance. Other features include Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist.

The Lexus UX has been gaining popularity in the Australian market. With recent updates to its infotainment system, design, and safety features, the UX has seen a significant increase in registrations. As of November 30, registrations have increased by 103.9% compared to the same period last year. Although it currently ranks fourth in its segment, it is showing promising growth.
