Alfa Romeo bids farewell to petrol power with limited-edition Giulia and Stelvio Super Sport models
Are you ready to embrace the electrifying future of Alfa Romeo with their exclusive Super Sport editions?
Alfa Romeo is embracing electric power and bidding farewell to petrol engines with the release of limited-run special editions of the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV. These exclusive models, which pay homage to the brand’s historic road race victory, will be available in Australia. Let’s take a closer look at what makes these Super Sport versions stand out.
To commemorate Alfa Romeo’s historic victory in the 1928 Mille Miglia road race, the brand is launching limited-edition Quadrifoglio Super Sport models of the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV. These special editions pay homage to the iconic Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport.
The Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport is priced from $174,200, representing a $20,500 premium over the base model. Similarly, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport starts at $183,200, which is $21,000 more than its standard counterpart.
While the changes compared to the standard Quadrifoglio models may be subtle, they enhance the Super Sport editions’ exclusivity. The Super Sport models feature black badging, a black-background four-leaf clover on the front wheel arches, carbon-fibre grille trim, and mirror caps. The Giulia also boasts a carbon-fibre roof, adding a touch of sportiness to its appearance.
The exterior of both the Giulia and Stelvio Super Sport editions can be finished in a choice of two colors: three-layer Etna Red and metallic Vulcano Black. Additionally, the Giulia is also available in Alfa White. The dark theme continues with black Brembo brake calipers behind the dark five-hole ‘telephone dial’ wheels, which are 19-inch on the Giulia and 21-inch on the Stelvio.
Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by the luxurious and sporty ambiance of the Quadrifoglio Super Sport edition. It features black leather upholstery, complemented by red carbon-fibre trim on the dashboard, centre console, and door panels. The headrests proudly display red embroidered Super Sport logos and unique build numbers. The advanced technology is not forgotten, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.8-inch infotainment screen.
While there’s no increase in power for the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport models, they still pack a punch. Under the hood, you’ll find a twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine that delivers 375kW of power and 600Nm of torque. The Giulia sends its power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the Stelvio features an all-wheel drive system for enhanced traction.
Looking ahead, Alfa Romeo has plans to electrify its lineup, with the next-generation versions of the Stelvio and Giulia expected to be fully electric cars. The Stelvio is slated for a 2025 release, followed by the Giulia in 2026. By 2027, Alfa Romeo aims to have an electric-only lineup.
